[Reporter Wu Chun-Feng / Tainan] To encourage local businesses to further develop distinctive regional characteristics and strengthen their brand image, the Tainan City Government launched this year’s “Tainan Good Gifts” selection under the new brand concept “Tainan Select.” More than 150 products entered the competition, from which 20 “Selected Products” and 10 “Potential Products” were chosen. The awards ceremony was held today alongside the “Tainan Good Gifts City Selection Exhibition,” showcasing Tainan’s rich local products and distinctive brand characteristics.
The awards ceremony was held at Mitsui OUTLET and hosted by Deputy Mayor Chao Ching-Hui. She noted that the “Tainan Good Gifts” selection has entered its fourth year. Tainan is home to many outstanding products worthy of recommendation, and through the selection and promotional campaign, the city hopes to increase brand visibility, encourage more consumers to discover and purchase local products, and bring home some of Tainan’s most distinctive specialties.
Mayor Huang Wei-Che also stated that Tainan residents place great importance on the tradition of gift-giving, which is deeply rooted in the city’s culture. Tainan Good Gifts are more than souvenirs; they also carry local cultural stories and the warmth of human connection. Through the selection, the city encourages businesses to continue improving product quality and cultivating local characteristics, while helping more consumers discover high-quality Tainan brands and share the city’s finest products with more people.
This year, the Economic Development Bureau introduced “Tainan Select” as the new brand concept, symbolizing the careful selection of the most locally distinctive Tainan products from among many outstanding entries.
At the same time, the city also organized the “Tainan Good Gifts Brand Identity (Logo) Design Competition”, which attracted 168 entries. Following professional judging and a public popularity vote, the top three designs and five honorable mentions were selected, further strengthening the overall brand identity of “Tainan Good Gifts.”
Chang Ting-Yuan, Director of the Economic Development Bureau, noted that this year’s awards ceremony was specially combined with the “Tainan Good Gifts City Selection Exhibition”, which is being held at the central plaza on the first floor of Mitsui OUTLET through August 25.
The exhibition brings together 35 outstanding brands, covering classic Tainan cuisine, distinctive souvenirs, and refined specialty products. With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the public is invited to shop for local gifts and share Tainan’s flavors and heartfelt sentiments with family and friends.
