Taiwan possesses rich bamboo resources and a long-established salt culture. Yet both industries face structural challenges brought by changing markets, imported materials, aging rural workforces, declining utilization of local resources, and limited value creation at the primary-production level.
For the bamboo sector, the challenge is not simply the existence of bamboo forests.
The more important question is whether bamboo continues to have meaningful and stable market applications.
Without sustained demand, forest management, harvesting, transportation, processing, local employment, and regional industry development become increasingly difficult to maintain as a connected value chain.
Salt faces a different challenge.
As one of the world's most fundamental food ingredients, salt is mature, highly standardized, and often exposed to price-based competition.
Yet modern consumers increasingly expect more than saltiness. They care about provenance, flavor, cultural identity, ingredient transparency, responsible sourcing, and sustainability.
Duo Li Duo therefore began with one central question:
If bamboo forests need new market applications and the salt industry needs new value propositions, can forestry and salt be reconnected through food innovation?
This question became the foundation of Duo Li Duo's bamboo salt circular economy model.

Together with its affiliated agricultural enterprise, Hai Yi Agricultural Products, Duo Li Duo combines Taiwanese bamboo with natural sea salt and uses food innovation to connect forestry, agriculture, the salt industry, local ingredients, food manufacturing, and consumer markets.
The objective is not merely to turn bamboo into a bottle of salt.
It is to redesign an entire cross-sector value chain:
Bamboo Forest Management → Bamboo Utilization → Natural Sea Salt → Bamboo-Filled Salt Processing → High-Temperature Roasting → Bamboo Salt Products → Flavor Innovation → By-Product Utilization → Regional Agricultural and Marine Value Creation → Consumer Markets → Renewed Industrial Demand
.png)
This is the essence of our circular economy approach.
The goal is not only to reduce waste, but to enable resources, industries, and communities to generate value repeatedly across an extended lifecycle.
For Duo Li Duo, ESG is not a sustainability label added after a product is completed.
It begins much earlier, with fundamental design questions:
Where do our materials come from?
Can product development support regional industries?
Can one resource create value more than once?
Can materials remaining after production enter another useful application?
Can a food product create new opportunities for local agricultural and marine sectors?
Our bamboo salt model therefore integrates ESG across three dimensions.
Extending the lifecycle of bamboo resources, exploring by-product applications, and shifting away from a linear “use once and discard” model.
Creating connections among bamboo growers, farmers, fisheries, processors, regional suppliers, and consumers so that local resources gain greater market visibility and value.
Building responsible sourcing, food safety, quality management, supply-chain collaboration, traceability, and sustainability performance into business operations.

Duo Li Duo believes that sophisticated seasoning should do more than make food salty.
It should reveal and complement the character of the ingredients themselves.
The process begins with material selection and continues through bamboo preparation, salt filling, sealing, high-temperature roasting, cooling, grinding, and quality management.
The bamboo salt is roasted at approximately 800°C for three days and three nights—around 72 hours.

Through the interaction of bamboo, salt, fire, and time, the salt develops its distinctive grayish-black appearance, mellow salinity, and characteristic roasted profile.
Yet from a circular economy perspective, the roasting stage is not the end of production.
It is one step within a much broader resource system.
Duo Li Duo continues to explore how bamboo materials, process outputs, regional ingredients, and secondary applications can create additional value beyond the primary product.
Each grain therefore represents more than flavor.
It demonstrates how forest resources, local industries, and food manufacturing can be integrated into a circular value model.
The Three-Roasted Seasoned Bamboo Salt Series builds upon long-roasted bamboo salt and combines it with floral, citrus, and Taiwanese mountain ingredients.
From a circular economy perspective, flavor innovation serves another important purpose:
expanding the number of situations in which bamboo salt can be used.

When bamboo salt moves beyond a niche product and enters home cooking, grilling, baking, outdoor dining, and foodservice applications, the market demand supporting bamboo utilization can become more diversified.

Inspired by lemons from Jiuru, Pingtung, Lemon Bamboo Salt demonstrates how bamboo salt can serve as a platform for regional agricultural products.
This represents an important circular-value concept:
one product platform can support multiple local resources rather than relying on a single ingredient.

Maqaw Bamboo Salt incorporates one of Taiwan's distinctive indigenous mountain spices.
Beyond flavor, it extends the bamboo salt platform toward regional forest ingredients and cultural food identity.
After connecting bamboo and salt, Duo Li Duo took the next step:
Can bamboo salt become a platform for creating value across multiple Taiwanese agricultural and marine industries?
The Culinary Innovation Series integrates bamboo salt with fire shrimp, marine ingredients, turmeric, and other regional resources.
From the Social dimension of ESG, this represents a shift from simple procurement toward regional co-creation.
Rather than merely purchasing ingredients, Duo Li Duo uses product development, processing, packaging, branding, and market access to give regional resources new product forms and consumer applications.
The series received recognition through the 2026 FUN FOOD TAIWAN “Special Award – Product Evolution.”

Inspired by Tainan's coastal fire shrimp, this product links forest resources, salt production, food processing, and local fisheries.

Circular economy is not only about material circulation.
It is also about value upgrading.
If bamboo salt remains a low-value commodity, the industry can easily return to price-based competition.
Duo Li Duo therefore uses product design, cultural storytelling, packaging, and gifting to transform salt from an everyday commodity into a higher-value culinary product.
This creates greater economic value from the same underlying resources while extending the market lifecycle of the product.
Duo Li Duo believes that circulation does not end when the primary product is completed.
A central question is always:
What useful role can the remaining material play next?
This product represents application circulation.
The same bamboo salt platform moves beyond kitchen seasoning and enters travel, outdoor, commuting, and everyday lifestyle applications.
Bamboo charcoal represents material lifecycle extension.
Following high-temperature carbonization, bamboo material can enter selected household applications such as refrigerators, wardrobes, storage areas, and shoe cabinets.
The key idea is simple:
materials should not become waste before their useful value is fully realized.
Traditional linear production follows a familiar pattern:
Extract → Produce → Sell → Use → Dispose
Duo Li Duo seeks to redesign this model:

ESG Performance Management
Circularity, regional sourcing, resource utilization, product innovation, and social impact are gradually translated into measurable management indicators.
Sustainability as a Business Model
Duo Li Duo does not view ESG as a one-time philanthropic initiative.
The goal is to create a commercially sustainable model in which environmental and social value are embedded directly into products and market mechanisms.
For Duo Li Duo, circular economy is not simply recycling.
Nor is it enough to reuse a leftover material and call the system circular.
True circularity begins before production.
It asks:
Can resources remain useful for longer?
Can one material create value more than once?
Can multiple industries share one value chain?
Can market value flow back into regional industry?
Duo Li Duo's bamboo salt model therefore connects:
Forestry × Salt Industry × Agriculture × Fisheries × Food Manufacturing × Brand Design × Consumer Markets
into one circular value network.

The deeper question behind Duo Li Duo Bamboo Salt is not:
“How can we make a more distinctive salt?”
It is:
Can a bamboo forest regain economic relevance through new market demand?
Can a mature salt product gain new value through food innovation?
Can local agricultural and marine ingredients extend their market lifecycle through new processing formats?
Can materials remaining after production move into another useful application instead of becoming waste?
These questions define the ESG logic behind Duo Li Duo Bamboo Salt.
From bamboo forests to sea salt, from high-temperature roasting to regional ingredients, and from seasoning products to bamboo charcoal applications, Duo Li Duo is developing a circular value chain that connects forestry, the salt industry, agriculture, fisheries, food manufacturing, and responsible consumption.
A grain of bamboo salt is therefore more than salt.
It represents new demand for a forest resource, new positioning for a traditional industry, greater value for regional ingredients, and a practical example of how ESG can be embedded directly into a product and business model.
